my name is brett Bowen. I am majoring in middle school education with concentration in math and science here at APPALACHIAN state university. my intended grades to teach are 6-8. my partners name is jordan brady.
This lesson is intended for 8th grade and 9th grade science students. my partner and I found a relatable topic in both of our standards; ecosystems. With the use of the media, the lesson relates to the intended students through self-on interaction and participation. The students will use a great deal of media and technology in our lesson. Within the lesson, there is multiple different uses of media that include a prezi, an animated video, and interactive posters with pictures that are compiled from media sources. the students also have to research specific information about the saint francis butterfly and it's habitat. the standards that our lesson is meeting is listed below:
Standards: From nC essential standards 6-8 science: essential standard: 8.l.3. -Understand how organisms interact with and respond to the biotic and abiotic components of their environment objectives: 8.l.3.1. -Explain how factors such as food, water, shelter and space affect populations in an ecosystem.
8.l.3.2. - Summarize the relationships among producers, consumers, and decomposers including the positive and negative consequences of such interactions including:
• Coexistence and cooperation
• Competition (predator/prey)
• Parasitism • Mutualism
8.l.3.3. - Explain how the flow of energy within food webs is interconnected with the cycling of matter (including water, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen).
